General Definition

Perception is the process through which sensory impressions are received, interpreted, and experienced as reality. It includes not only seeing, hearing, and feeling, but also the influence of memory, experience, attention, and consciousness.

Meaning within jahdara

Perception is the point of departure for all artistic work within jahdara.

A work does not present objective reality. It offers an impulse to which the viewer’s mind responds. Meaning therefore arises not solely from the work itself, but through the relationship between the work, perception, and the viewer.

Every person experiences the world through their own history, memories, cultural background, and present state of mind. There is therefore no completely neutral act of seeing.

For jahdara, art becomes an exploration of perception itself. It does not merely reveal something to be seen; it draws attention to the way reality is experienced in the first place.

The work does not only observe the world.

It also observes the act of observing.
